As we prepare to leave China, I'm taking a stroll down blog-memory lane. Here are 10 of my favorite posts from 2007. (If you missed the list from 2006, click here.)
- "Weird Camera-in-Thumb Dream" (Forgot all about this dream. Makes me happy that I write them all down...and that I got to wear a cat suit.)
- "Writing: On Process: Changing Point of View in Mid-Stream" (This was so long ago, I barely remember when my novel was in first person.)
- "Wulumuqi Road: Chicken on a Leash" (Love this post. Cracks me up...still.)
- "The Bali Dance" (Getting ready for my first trip to Bali...um, I was happy.)
- "Mumbai: 10 Things" (We did a good bit of traveling in 2007. One of the most fascinating trips was to Mumbai, India.)
- "Qingyang Gong: My Favorite Buddhist Temple in Chengdu, China" (And after three more years of visiting temples in China, this is STILL my all-time favorite. A very special place.)
- "5 Things My Ayi Tells Me" (In China, I am lucky enough to have an ayi. A woman who comes into my home and cooks/cleans/does laundry/helps out with Tully/etc. Usually an ayi also butts into your business and tells you what's what. Zheng Mei was our ayi in 2007 when I wrote this entry. As you can see, it was a complicated relationship.)
- "Sealing the Envelope: Solving the Mystery" (Question: Why don't envelopes in China have seal-y stuff on them? Answer: Click on the link.)
- "In Line at the U.S. Consulate's Office or Notes on a Buffoon" (some folks give Americans a really bad name)
- "More on Bicycles in Shanghai" (Question: How many bicycles do you think are registered in Shanghai?)
These blog entries are killer to re-read. I'll bet you are having a good walk down memory lane from the time you first arrived in China and before you became a mom. On that note, Happy Anniversary of Tully's arrival! My book group is hopeful you'll join us when we discuss "Thirsty" sometime in 2011. Until then, have a safe move!
